Chase The Chill Returns to Easton Saturday

Third annual event will decorate Easton with nearly 500 scarves.

Chase the Chill returns to Easton Saturday for its third year, decorating the city with nearly 500 scarves.

The event begins at 9 a.m. at the Easton Area Community Center, where volunteers will collect scarves and then head out into the city, decorating the town with scarves...that anyone walking by can take and wear.

Anyone in need of some extra warmth, especially those without power after Superstorm Sandy, may claim the scarves regardless of income and without any qualifications," organziers said in a news release.  Each scarf will be affixed with a tag inviting its finder to take it if they need it."

The event has grown considerably since it began in 2010, when 80 scarves were distributed throughout the city. Last year, that number jumped to 228, and more than doubled this year, said spokeswoman Susan Huxley.
