Brrr! 1st Lehigh Valley Polar Plunge Saturday

Saturday's Polar Plunge will feature hardy souls who will venture into the icy Delaware River in Easton to raise money for Special Olympics

The first-ever Lehigh Valley Polar Plunge is planned for Saturday at Scott Park along the Delaware River in Easton. The event will benefit Special Olympics and is expected to draw hundreds of participants.

Cost to participate is $50.

2013 Plunge Schedule

  • 7:30 a.m. Registration Opens (arrive early to avoid long lines). Enjoy live music while you are waiting to Plunge
  • 11:30 a.m. Costume Contest Judging
  • Noon Awards
  • 12:45 p.m. Plunger Safety Briefing
  • 1:00 p.m. Time to Plunge!

Parking: All parking will be on a first come, first serve basis. Please note that Larry Holmes Drive in front of Scott Park will be closed to allow for easy walking and access to the plunge area. There are numerous metered parking spots and lots available within a short walk of Scott Park.

Shoes: All plungers must wear shoes into the water. Bare feet are not allowed for safety reasons. Any old pair of shoes will suffice.

Registration: If you have already registered for the Plunge, you must come to the registration tent between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Plunge Day to receive a wristband and your official Plunge T-shirt. This is also an opportunity for you to hand in any additional funds you’ve raised. Please note, you cannot plunge without a wristband.

Plunge Towne: Please plan to arrive early and enjoy music, food, and fun between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. at Scott Park.

Plunge Waves: For safety reasons, plungers will enter the water in waves of 75 people. Waves will be designated by the color of your wristband that you receive upon registration. All teams will have the same color wristband. The order of the plunge waves will be posted on event day.

“Too Chicken To Plunge”: Since jumping into a freezing river is not for everyone, participants can choose to register for the event as a "Too Chicken To Plunge" participant. You will receive a special “Too Chicken” plunge shirt and still be a valued member of the Plunge family!
