Baconfest Coming to Easton Saturday

Easton Farmers' Market will celebrate beloved pork product Saturday.

Americans love bacon, to the point that the notion of a global "bacon shortage" was national news a few weeks ago.

Whether or not that shortage materializes, you'll find plenty of bacon at the Easton Farmers' Market Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., as it celebrates its inagural Baconfest.

The day will feature a "Chopped" style cook-off between four local restaurants -- Two Rivers Brewing Co., LEAF, Megs & Mads and Valenca -- with chefs preparing bacon-themed appetizers, entrees and desserts.

There's also bacon cupcake competition, with professional and home bakers competing. For rules, visit the farmers' market website.

In addition, numerous vendors at the market will be selling bacon products.

The festival was originally scheduled for last Saturday, but was moved because several vendors were still without power due to Hurricane Sandy.
