ProJeCt of Easton Graduation
ProJeCt of Easton celebrated graduation of its literacy students on Wednesday, June 18, 6:00 P.M. at St. John's Lutheran Church, 330 Ferry Street in Easton. This year's class included 27 students graduating with a GED and five graduating with citizenship. Students range in age from 17 to early 60s and are not only from the United States, but several come from Central America, Mexico, South America, and Africa. Seven of the graduates are currently enrolled in post secondary education. Two graduates are a mother and a daughter.
ProJeCt offers high quality, research-based education services to low-income adults and children. Instruction is based on individual student goals and academic level. All classes are free to those who qualify. Day and evening ESL and GED classes are available and ongoing throughout the year. Call 610-258-1100 ext. 13 for more information.

ProJeCt is a community benefit human service agency founded by local clergy and community leaders in the wake of the King assassination and in response to the rising tide of poverty and social unrest of 1968. Its purpose was to advocate for action and to provide service to an under- served poor population in Easton, Pennsylvania. Today the agency provides assistance to more than 5,000 people a year, serving Easton (population 26,000) and the surrounding communities in Northampton County (population 295,000), Pennsylvania. Services include tiers of service including an emergency assistance and food program, case management support services that assist people in developing life skills and moving to self-sufficiency and educational programs that include adult basic literacy, English as a second language, GED preparation, family literacy and supplemental education programs for school age children.
