Batuque Offers Easton 'Endless Supply of Meat'

New Brazilian steakhouse Batuque opens on Easton's Northampton Street.

On the menu at Batuque, you'll find dishes like Tilapia Batucada and Chicken Madeira. But the star attraction at this new Northampton Street Brazilian steakhouse—just like any Brazilian steakhouse—is the rodizio de churrasco, says manager Barbara DeMattos. Roughly translated (in the word's of Batuque's own menu), it's an "endless supply of meat." What that means is that you'll order, and a chef will bring out skewers of different meats: cuts of prime rib and sirloin (the house special), chicken wings, pork loin with cheese, spare ribs, turkey wrapped in bacon, just to name a few. 200 Properties Up for Sheriff Sale Friday

Northampton County's monthly sheriff sale will be held Friday.

Northampton County's next sheriff sale is set for Friday, May 10. There are at least 200 properties that will go on the block. This monthly public auction will begin at 10 a.m. in county council chambers at the Northampton County Courthouse, 669 Washington St., Easton. Call (610) 559-3000 for details. Rules for the sale include: The last sale, held on April 5, included 190 properties.

I wonder, of the 200 properties up for auction how many were basically stolen from the homeowners because of the housing market crash. Predatory lenders flooded the market with deals that they new would turn people upside down in their mortgage when the bubble was going to burst. New Rodizio Grill Brazilian Steakhouse Opens

The new Rodizio Grill Brazilian Steakhouse in Allentown features a gourmet salad bar and slow-grilled meats carved table side by 'gauchos.'

The owners of The Melting Pot fondue restaurant in Bethlehem have added another unique dining experience to the Lehigh Valley restaurant scene with the opening of Rodizio Grill Brazilian Steakhouse at 2805 Lehigh Street in Allentown. Rodizio is located next to The Tilted Kilt at the site of what used to be a Bob Evans restaurant just off I-78. Rodizio features a gourmet salad bar and rotisserie grilled meats—including beef, pork, poultry and lamb—that are seasoned and slow roasted. After you visit the salad bar, return to your table where friendly "gauchos" bring steak and other roasted meat to you on a long skewer and carve it tableside. Ichiban Express Brings Sushi to South Side

New Easton eatery offers 'pan Asian cuisine' at Philadelphia road location.

In the mood for sushi? You might want to head to Easton's South Side, where you'll find Ichiban Express tucked between two chain restraunts in a Philadelphia Road shopping center. The pan-Asian cuisine eatery offers take-out and eat-in service seven days a week, with a menu featuring teriyaki and hibachi dishes, as well as sushi. There's 20 different varities of sushi, including the "Easton roll," which includes baked salmon and avocado. Hours are 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday.

Dorney Park Open for 2013 Season: 5 Things to Know

Dorney Park opened Friday. You'll have to wait another three weeks for Wildwater Kingdom, which opens May 25. Here's info on discounted tickets.

1. Dorney Park in South Whitehall will be open on weekends only until May 25, when Wildwater Kingdom also opens. This weekend's hours are as follows: Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. 2. Lehigh Valley residents get a discount on admission this weekend. According to Dorney Park's Facebook page, park patrons from Lehigh and Northampton counties, as well as Berks, Monroe and Carbon counties, can present their ID at the ticket booth this weekend (May 3-5) to buy up to four tickets at $25 per ticket. (Regular admission is $39.99 online to $49.99 at the gate, per ticket but there are junior/senior admissions and starlight tickets). As a season pass holder we go as soon as they open, head to the water park and stay for a few hours and then go home and have lunch at home. It works out well for us because we only live 15, or so mins, away. I can't take the crowds !!! Going after 5 is good too especially during the week. I too would never go there except for the kids.   more ›
