Zucchini 500 Gears Up For Saturday in Easton
The Easton Farmers' Market will host the 6th annual Zucchini 500 this weekend.
The Zucchini 500 is back.
For the past six years, the Easton Farmers' Market has hosted this unique little race, a variation on the Cub Scouts' Pinewood Derby.
But instead of carving a little racecar out of wood, the contestants in the Zucchini 500 make their cars from -- as the name implies -- zucchinis.
Racers compete in three categories: mid-sized, sports car and monster truck. Adults are allowed to enter as well, but only in the mid-sized category. A $6 entry fee gets you access to all the things you need to build your racer.
Peter Brohl, a NASCAR official, will be on hand to wave the checkered flag.
The race begins Saturday at 11 a.m. in Centre Square.
