What Should go in this West Ward Video Store?
It's been years since this video store on Northampton Street was open. What should take its place?
Every two weeks, we ask our readers for suggestions for empty or unusued spaces around Easton.
Think of it as a digital version of those "I Wish This Was" stickers.
This week, we're looking at the defunct video store on the 700 block of Northampton Street.
If you live or do business in the neighborhood you might have noticed the building, still advertising movies -- such as I Am Legend -- that haven't been new to video for some time now.
Let's pretend someone wanted to take this space over. What could take its place? What does this neighborhood need? Tell us in the comments.

A cafe. A little coffee and treat place.I miss the hollywood oriented Main Street Cafe in Hellertown and rumor has it the old owner is always looking for another location to reopen. Also, I wish somebody would open a rock oriented bar in this town. We've got folksy places and hippie-dippy places and hillbilly places but no rock clubs.

The store front needs new glass in the windows, and I second the coffee and treat place idea. add soup and salad and you're good to go.

Arcade. A nice one, not a usual crappy one. One with standards.

Dude, they don't have those anymore. Everyone has an X-Box or a PS3 at home so there's no reason to go somewhere with a fistful of quarters. Kids don't understand pinball. They want redemption games or cranes with stuffed animals.

Replace the windows with safety glass, a little freshing with paint and the possibilities could include Deli, beauty salon, retail

I'll third the cafe idea. Lets turn the patch of grass at eighth and northampton into an organic garden that supplies the cafe.
Drew I think I know the former owner of the cafe your talking about and Im pretty sure hes sold off his equipment.

Tom - I love these "what should go" articles but does anything ever become of them? Do they get forwarded or submitted to anyone in any position to do something about it?

Not really Drew. This is more about sparking conversation. I'd like to think at least one or two people who can make these decisions are reading these.
