For the first time in 16 years, the Unites States is bringing Women's Gymnastics gold stateside. This time, a Coopersburg native was along for the ride.
The Olympic gymnastics squad includes Aly Raisman, Jordyn Wieber, McKayla Maroney, Gabby Douglas, and Kyla Ross.
Heavily favored to win, the gymnasts didn't disappoint, taking a strong lead off the top with a solid performance on vault from Maroney. They stayed in front for the duration of the events, beating second-place Russia by more than five points. Romania came in a distant third.
Alternates for the gymnastics team included Coopersburg native Elizabeth "Ebee" Price. Price came in fourth during the qualifying events, with many on Twitter and Facebook flocking to the feeds to learn more about her. In a controversial decision, judges at the qualifier gave Price an alternate slot on the team, adding Maroney to the roster for her strong vault skills.
Price returned home from the qualifying rounds to a hero's welcome in Coopersburg, with friends and neighbors filling the street holding homemade signs and decorating the Price home.

Does Ebee get the same medal that the other team mates that actually performed in the competition received.

Hi @Raymond,
Thanks for writing in! According to my research, Ebee won't get a gold medal. I was unable to confirm that today, so I'll keep trying!
