Sigal Offers "Passport to History" Sunday
Easton museum will celebrate Northampton County history Sunday afternoon.
This Sunday, Easton's Sigal Museum will celebrate Northampton County History Day, which is also the first day of the local "Passport to History" program.
Passport to History is an alliance between the county's various historic organizations. The program challenges local residents to visit as many county historic sites as possible between Sunday and March 2013.
"It's a wonderfully fun way for families to learn the history of their own geographical region," David Vilchek, the program's chair, said in a news release. "The sites testify to our rich historical heritage, right here in Northampton County."
Sunday's event, which is free, will run from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Local author/historian Frank Whelan will give a talk on county history beginning at 2:30 p.m. Re-enactors from the 153rd Civil War regiment will be around to welcome visitors.
