Should Easton Move Its City Offices?
Mayor Sal Panto said the city should sell the Alpha building after moving into new intermodal center. What do you think?
If Easton is going to spend money on a new building, it might as well own that building.
That's Mayor Sal Panto's argument for moving the city government offices out of the Alpha building on South Third Street and into the still-to-be-built intermodal building a block or so away.
Of course, this isn't a done deal. The mayor will bring his plan before city council Wednesday night.
And you'll have a chance to speak up then too. The meeting starts at 6 p.m.
Until then, we'd like to hear what you think. Take our poll, and then use the comments section to explain why you think the city offices should/shouldn't move.

The city just spent a ton of money in 2011 to renovate the current space in the Alpha building. This isn't about a better location, or owning the property.
This is about a monument for Sal Panto weather his name is on it or not.
Once again we see the leaders of our government looking to spend, spend, spend.
For all the talk about recycling, re-purposing, and saving the environment this is the perfect opportunity for our liberal leaders downtown to lead by example.
Stay put and make due with where you are. My guess is that repairs on the Alpha building will cost far less than buying a new property.

Is it less expensive in the long run to own their own property? Or is it more economical to keep paying for rent and renovations? My guess is that it's cheaper in the long run to own their own property. As a business owner, I will say it is important to spend money to make money. You must evolve with the changing dynamics of your environment and sometimes that means spending money to innovate and modernize to stay competitive. Our city definitely has to stay competitive with other surrounding cities to attract visitors, new residents, and quality employees. These ideas are paramount in every fortune 500 organization...how to stay innovative and competitive. As a city we need to be thinking in the same manner. Cities that do not spend money on their infrastructure, beautification and modernization will be left behind.
