Poll: Higher Prices at the State Theatre
Do you mind paying $3 more to help the State Theatre restore its building?
Tickets to the State Theatre's new season go on sale to the public starting this morning.
Last week, theater president Shelley Brown wrote to customers informing them that they'd be paying an extra $3 "theatre restoration fee" with each ticket purcahsed.
"The fact is that we had no alternative," Brown wrote. "This revenue will go straight into maintaining our buildings. Our handling fees are still the lowest in the Lehigh Valley, and a restoration fee is common amongst non-profit, historic theatres around the country."
She said some of the work that needs to be done includes replacing the theater's main curtain and "very expensive" repairs to the building's interior walls and exterior plaster.

I had no problem paying the extra $3.00 for the restoration project. I do not go to the State often but when I do it still is truly an Easton gem.I went there as a child with my mother in the early 1960's and thank God it is still there today. It is the only one left!
