Police Investigate "Sewer Explosion" Scam
Easton police advise residents to be wary of a man claiming to be looking into sewer explosion.
Easton police want residents to look out for a man claiming he's checking into "sewer explosions" in their neighborhood.
The reason? It might be a scam.
According to police, a man who lives on the 700 block of Seitz Street on the South Side answered his door Wednesday afternoon to a man wearing a hardhat and a safety vest.
Police say the man told the resident he there had been a sewer explosion behind his home, and instructed him to go into his basement and turn on his washing machine.
When the resident came back upstairs, the man was gone. He told police nothing had been taken from his home.
Police say the man was a white male, around 5'9'' and 180 pounds, wearing a green vest, a white hard hat, and tan pants. Anyone with information, or who is visited by the man, is asked to call police at 610-250-6634.
