Police: Easton Officer Committed Suicide
Pocono Township police say Joshua Marvin shot himself at his Monroe County home Wednesday.
An Easton police officer found dead at his home in Monroe County Wednesday committed suicide, officials said.
Joshua Marvin, 26, was found dead at his home in Tannersville by a family member, according to Pocono Township Police. An autopsy Thursday determined that he had committed suicide.
"Police have learned from family and friends that he was depressed and devastated over a failed relationship," police wrote in their news release.
Marvin had been with the Easton police department for two years, according to the Express-Times.
"He was a real good guy, unfortunately we didn't see anything like this coming," Captain Carl Scalzo told the newspaper.
Scalzo said Marvin had expressed interest in doing detective work for the department. Last month, he stopped a suspect who stole a shotgun from an Easton police cruiser.
