Photos: Peace Candle Goes Up in Easton
Easton's biggest holiday decoration will be lit in ceremony November 23.
It's the week before Thanksgiving, and in Easton that means that Centre Square's Soldiers' & Sailor's Monument is turning into a giant candle.
That 61-year-old tradition continued Wednesday as a group of city workers -- joined by volunteer iron workers from Local No. 36 -- put up the Peace Candle.
The candle is over 100 feet tall -- the flame at the top is around 12 feet -- and made of wood and fiberglass. It is set to be lit next Friday night at 8 p.m.
