Pastor Phil Davis Honored by Boys & Girls Club

Easton spiritual leader and his congregation get annual Brother Bright Award.

Every year, the Easton Boys & Girls Club gives out an award in memory of Brother Thomas W. Bright, a local civil rights leader.

As the club's Executive Director Dean Young put it, Bright was someone who "if he saw injustice, always walked through it."

On Tuesday night at Lafayette College, the club gave the Brother Thomas W. Bright Young Ambassadors Award to Pastor Phillip Davis and his congregation at Easton's Greater Shiloh Church.

The award is given to people who serve as role models, and who make Easton a better place to live.

Davis said his award was as much Greater Shiloh's as it was his.

“No one man can do what the church has accomplished by himself," he said.

In addition to the award, Davis also noted that there's a road near the church named for Bright. It's near the street named for Davis' father, the late Pastor Fred Davis.

"So we've got greatness in front of us, and greatness behind us," he said.

When you are a true follower of Christ, you will reach out and love your hurting community. Thankyou to Greater Shiloh and Pastor Davis for being Christlike and loving others. The church exists to live out the hope that they have in Jesus.
