Northampton Street Arrest Stops Traffic

A man and a woman were arrested on suspicion of driving a stolen vehicle.

A man and woman were arrested at gunpoint by Easton police on Friday just after noon on Northampton Street.

Police said the pair, who have yet to be identified, were arrested after the license plate on the green Grand Marquis they were traveling in came up stolen in a check.

Drug paraphernalia was found during a search of the vehicle, police said.

The incident, which happened just east of the five-point intersection at Sixth and Walnut streets, briefly halted traffic, as surprised neighbors and pedestrians watched.

Both suspects were taken into custody and were transported to the city's police station for processing without further incident.

The car was impounded and towed.
