'Cheeburger' Chain Coming to Pomeroy Building

Burger chain, outpatient clinic planned for redeveloped Northampton Street space.

A small hamburger chain wants to move into Easton's Pomeroy building, according to published reports.

The 1950s-themed Cheeburger Cheeburger will be the refurbished building's new tenant, developer Mark Mulligan told the Express-Times.

And the Morning Call notes that the building will also welcome a second tenant: an Easton Hospital outpatient clinic.

The news comes six months after the McDonald's that had been attached to the Crayola Experience moved out. The city essentially bought out McDonald's lease to allow Crayola to expand. Cheeburger would be one of the few chain restaurants within the city limits.

With more than 60 restaurants in 18 states, Cheeburger Cheeburger hasn't exactly reached McDonald's territory. The Easton location would be the chain's sixth in Pennsylvania.

Although it seems to take its name from the John Belushi SNL skit about a diner with a pretty limited menu, the chain says its claims to fame are its angus beef burgers with multiple toppings and its milkshakes.

The first phase of the Pomeroy renovations featured apartments on top of , which opened late last year.
