Martin Luther King Events Planned Around Easton

Greater Shiloh Church will let its Orators speak; Easton Boys & Girls celebrate mentoring.

Each year, Easton's Greater Shiloh Church hosts what's arguably the city's main Martin Luther King Jr. event, with songs, stories, prayers, and speeches by local political figures.

This year, the church is adding a new feature to the service: The kids who are part of its Orators program will play a major role in the event, according to Roy Schuler, who runs the Orators.

This year's Martin Luther King remembrance beings at Shiloh at 3 p.m. Monday.

Meanwhile, the Boys & Girls Club of Easton will make the day a "day of service," with a program at 5 p.m. at the club's South Side facilities.

Clubs members will hear success stories from alumni, as well as talks from Frank Tavani, the head football coach for Lafayette College, and motivational speaker Bill Rambo.

Shiloh is one of Easton's great institutions. I'll be there.
