Man Charged in Christmas Lamp Assault
Glen Loebsack, 44, charged with assault at Union Street home.
An Easton man has been charged with hitting his girlfriend in the head with a lamp on Christmas Day while she slept and then repeatedly punching her in the head when she woke up.
An arrest warrant was approved later Christmas Day for Glen Loebsack, 44. He was arraigned Wednesday night on charges of simple assault and harassment and committed to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $5,000 bail.
When city Patrolman Jeffrey Pellegrino arrived at Loebsack’s residence – 150 S. Union St. – on the afternoon of Dec. 25, he found blood from the head wound running down the girlfriend’s face, Pellegrino writes in a criminal complaint.
The woman, who was in her bedroom, told the officer she had just been assaulted by Loebsack. The complaint, which says the incident occurred around 1:40pm., does not indicate what may have triggered the alleged attack.
The woman said Loebsack hit her with the lamp while she slept. When she awakened, she said, he repeatedly punched her in the head and chased her outside.
In addition to seeing the blood running down the woman’s face, Pellegrino saw a lump on her head in the area from which the blood was coming.
An EMS crew had been requested for the woman before the officer arrived.
Loebsack was arraigned by on-duty District Judge Todd Strohe of Bangor.
