Man Assaulted Unborn Baby, Police Say

Andrew Stroud Jr., 31, caused pregnant girlfriend to fall on her belly, police say.

An Easton man is charged with aggravated assault of an unborn child for causing his girlfriend, who was 8 ½-months pregnant, to fall on her stomach last month, court records say.

The incident occurred Jan. 18, but the records do not say if the baby was harmed. They also do not say if the baby has been born.

The suspect, Andrew Stroud Jr., 31, of 1330 Washington St., C-21, was arraigned Friday night and committed to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail.

The girlfriend told city Patrolman Eric Siegfried that Stroud – the baby’s father -- had returned home about 6pm when she grabbed a car door handle and attempted to open the door.

She said he looked at her then drove off, causing her to fall. She suffered hand abrasions.

She required medical attention for her injuries and a “medical evaluation” for the unborn child, Siegfried writes in a criminal complaint.

In addition to aggravated assault of an unborn child, Stroud was charged with simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and harassment. He was arraigned Friday night by on-duty District Judge Richard Yetter of Wilson.

The most interesting aspect of this case is that the same "justice system" recognizes a fetus as "UNBORN life", and yet the law allows for abortion.
This guy is being charged with assault on an unborn child, but doctors and mothers who knowingly murder an unborn child are given cover by the law.
I am solidly pro-life and agree with the charge against this guy, but in fairness to him I would totally understand his lawyers arguing "not guilty" using the abortion argument to back him up.

We must return to a solid stance of valuing human life at all stages in all cases. We cannot pick and choose when we call a fetus life and when we call it disposable.
God save us!

Why is it always men who don't want women to have access to birth control and insist that women carry pregnancies to term whether they can afford it or not? And then the same men complain about "welfare mothers". Against abortion? Don't have one. But give the folks who bear the burden the option or the same access to safe birth control as men get for viagra.

Not the guy who wants to tell women what to do with their bodies.

You have access to many forms of birth control. You could walk in to a 7-11 and buy a box of condoms. You could also keep your legs closed. God forbid we interject some "personal responsibility and accountability" in to a woman's reproductive system.

The sperm a man produces isa living cell, the egg a female produces is a living cell an when the sperm fertilizes the egg a living zygote - or a living embryo is produced. When does this living embryo not be alive and then can be aborted as a non living thing.???? Let,s tell it as it is - an abortion is killing a living human being!!!

Women and men can prevent unwanted births by using the proper birth controls that are readily available. I especially like the comment about keeping your knees together or your pants zipped.
