Lunch Could Cost More at Easton Schools
School board considering 5 and 10 cent price increases for lunches for 2013-2014.
For the second year in a row, the Easton Area School District is ready to raise its lunch prices.
District Chief Operating Officer Michael Simonetta told the school board Tuesday night the district needs to increase meal costs to keep up with state standards.
Assuming the board approves the increase later this month, students from kindergarten to 4th grade would pay $2.05 per lunch (up for $2.00), while students in grades 5-12 would pay $2.20 (up from $2.10).

CUT BACK the Sodexo contract. Our kids have a "grand buffet" every day in the lunch room. There is NO reason for so many fried and battered choices. Provide one hot lunch for all, with a single religious exception...like it used to be. We'll save labor, food costs, preparation costs, storage and refrigeration, etc. We all survived and are here today to talk about it.
We used to get a calendar listing THE lunch that would be served each day. Based on that our kids picked which days they wanted to buy and which days they wanted to pack. That saved us money and there was very little wasted food.
I'm not opposed to an increase in the lunches as long as we SCALE BACK the entire program to eliminate the buffet and standardize the meals again.
Moving forward

I agree!
Way too many fried foods! And do they really need a buffet style lunch? Half the time my daughter tells me they hurry the kids up, and most of it gets thrown out. There goes our hard earned lunch money.
