LANTA Gets $4 Million For Easton Intermodal Unit
Transportation authority funding will help Easton construct bus terminal/parking deck on Third Street.
The Lehigh and Northampton Transportation Authority has given $4 million to Easton's Intermodal project, the Express-Times reports.
The newspaper says LANTA got the money through Federal Transportation Administration funding. The news comes a few weeks after the city finalized a $4.4 million loan from Merchant's Bank.
When completed, the intermodal unit -- on South Third Street -- will house a new bus terminal, parking deck, restaurants and office space, and a High School Sports Hall of Fame.
The intermodal will built on the land currently occupied by the vacant Marquis Theater and Perkins, which are expected to be demolished by the end of the month.
