Il Volo Coming to State Theatre
Italian trio that's opening for Barbra Streisand will play in Easton in October.
Il Volo, a teenage trio that has gone from an America's Got Talent-style TV show in its native Italy to opening for Barbra Streisand, will play at the State Theatre in October.
The group -- which plays operatic pop music -- will perform Oct. 15 at 8 p.m. at the theater. Tickets for the show -- which range from $75 to $90 -- go on sale to theater members at 10 a.m. Sept. 5 and to the general public on Sept. 12.
Il Volo -- which means "flight" in Italian -- got its start when its members appearned on an Italian talent show called Ti Lascio Una Canzone.
"In the U.S., Il Volo virtually exploded on the scene following a show-stopping appearance on American Idol: IL VOLO came in at No. 6 on the Billboard Top 200 Charts and has remained a Top Ten CD on Billboard’s Classical Crossover Chart since March 2012," the State Theatre said in a news release.
"The boys have now appeared on major TV shows including The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Today Show, Good Morning America, The Talk, Ellen and Rachel Ray. The threesome also made a surprise appearance on the final episode of the HBO Series Entourage."
In addition to all that, Barbra Streisand has asked Il Volo to tour with her this fall. The group will be taking a break from those dates to appear in Easton.
"Ti Lascio Una Canzone" translates as "Leavin' you a song."
