Fundraiser Planned For Werkheiser Kids
The Wilson Community Center will hold breakfast for children of Mark Werkheiser.
The Wilson Area Community Center will hold a breakfast fundraiser next Sunday for the children of Mark Werkheiser.
It's the latest in a series of community events aimed at helping the four children, twin 16-year-old girls and two boys 10 and 13, all of whom are Wilson Area students.
Werkheiser, of Williams Township, was shot and killed last month at his home on Browns Drive. Elizabeth Collazo, his ex-girlfriend and mother of their children, has been charged in his death.
Since then, fundraising efforts to help the children have spread to beyond just the Wilson area. In Forks last week, DeLorenzo's restaurant held a dinner to raise money for the Werkheiser family; on Thursday, Five Guys Burgers' Lehigh Valley locations will donate their profits to the cause.
According to the Express-Times, next Sunday's breakfast will run from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the community center at Wilson's Meuser Park. Tickets are $8 for adults, and $5 for kids 5-12. Children under 5 get in for free.
The pancake breakfast is sponsored by Wilson Intermediate School's student council and National Honor Society, as well as the Wilson Lions Club.
