Electrical Fire Closes Sigal Museum

Early morning fire at Easton's Sigal Museum contained by vault, but smoke means building will be closed.

An early morning fire behind Easton's Sigal Museum means the building will be closed today and Thursday.

The Express-Times reports that a fire broke out in an electrical vault around 6:40 a.m. Wednesday, sending some smoke into the museum.

However, the museum had done work to protect the vault, which protected the collections inside, Executive Director Barbara Kowitz told the newspaper.

The museum will be closed today and Thursday. A talk about the history of Roseto scheduled for Thursday will be rescheduled.

"Thank you to the Easton Fire Department for their prompt response!" the museum wrote on its Facebook page Wednesday.
