Easton School of Rock Expands Into Allentown
The School of Rock's Easton founders plan second location in Allentown.
Easton's School of Rock has grown beyond Easton's borders.
Ray Thierrin, who co-founded the city's school in 2009, plans to open a new location in Allentown later this month.
The School of Rock is a national franchise that gives music lessons -- guitar, vocals, bass, drums and piano -- with the goal of turning students into a rock band.
The Allentown school -- at 622 Union Blvd. -- is scheduled to hold an open house from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 22, with a grand opening at the same times the following Sunday.
"We will run a traditional School of Rock kids program but we will also want to work with adults," Thierrin said in a news release, anticipating giving up to 200 lessons a week.
Thierrin and his wife opened the Easton School of Rock on Bank Street after seeing the program help their son develop his musical talents in New Jersey. The school's Bank Street Band performs regular concerts around the city.
