Easton Police Investigating Downtown Brawl
A large altercation Monday morning in downtown Easton had people fighting in the streets, and left at least one property damaged.
Easton police are investigating a large fight that happened early Monday outside a Downtown bar.
The brawl happened just after 2 a.m. outside Mother's* in Centre Square. A resident who lives on Northampton Street e-mailed Patch about the fight Monday morning.
"Thirty to forty people spilled out into the streets viscously fighting each other to the point that someone got thrown through the front window at Connexions," he wrote, referring to the ConneXions art gallery.
Lt. Matthew Gerould described it as "a large fight that officers just came upon," with the brawlers easily outnumbering the officers on the scene. Several people involved ran away, Gerould said.
He expects two or three people will be charged with disorderly conduct.
*An earlier version of this story said the fight stemmed from Drinky's, another bar in the neighborhood. We apologize for the error.

Please correct your article. The fight did not start at Drinky's. the altercation started at Mother's and spilled out onto the streets.

Just wondering, are their any repercussions that will be levied against the host business? That sort of behavior shouldn't be tolerated, regardless of the business, and those of us downtown know which businesses are problems and which are true assets. As a community, we need to be more supportive of those businesses that are indeed assets and more scrutinizing of those businesses that verge on being a nuisance. Also, I believe the responding officers should be commended for their actions. They were able to disperse a large unruly, and violent crowd in a fairly short time with little incident and no injuries while being out numbered some 20 to 1.

More and more, the downtown neighborhood is becoming residential. The new Pomeroy Lofts have already rented many apartments. There is a wonderful phenomenon of young families purchasing properties. The message is that people are investing in the future of Downtown, and plan to be here a good while.Amend is right: the "nuisance bars" need to clean up their acts and the community needs to pressure them to do so. The brawl in the early hours should be something that is completely unacceptable.

Can Mr. Comb or the EastonPatch verify that the prior comment was actually made by Mayor Panto?
