Easton NAACP Head Cleared of Theft
John Robinson, president of Easton's NAACP chapter, found not guilty of stealing from mother-in-law.
A Northampton County jury has found the head of the Easton NAACP not guilty of theft, according to published reports.
John Robinson was charged last year after police accused him of taking $55,000 from his mother-in-law -- intended to go to his children -- and using it for personal and business expenses.
Prosecutors had alleged that Robinson had misled his ex-wife about the money, moving it into another account.
But in court this week, Robinson testified that he was only following his mother-in-law's wishes, according to the Express-Times. He was acquitted Thursday following a two-day trial, the paper reports.
