Easton Mayor Will Inspect Properties

Easton Mayor Sal Panto plans to lead the inspection of 200 properties in the 600 block of Northampton Street.

Attention property owners on the 600 block of Northampton Street: Clean up. The mayor's coming.

Mayor Sal Panto announced today he'll lead an inspection of over 200 properties on the block Thursday afternoon, part of a program to conduct block-by-block inspections around Easton.

The program is "designed to assist residents, property and business owners improve the quality, appearance and value of their neighborhood; a key to the revitalization of the city," the mayor's office said in a news release.

The city has been focusing on improvements to the 600 block for the last two years, viewing it as a bridge between Easton's Downtown and West Ward sections. The entire block is made up of either commercial buildings or rental properties.

How about just demolish all the houses and build apartment buildings like the city did on south side. The houses on the 600 Block are falling apart and run down. Its nice the mayor is pretending to do his job but this is all a sham. Theres houses all around the city that should be taken care of and nothing is being done about them. The mayor should do whatever he can to get new owners of these houses even if it means wiping the back taxes owed to the city. Make a deal with the new home owners that they have to live there for 10 years before they can sell it or rent it out. I'd give the mayor a C- because hes doing just enough to keep his job. When his term is up he will have to fight to be reelected guarranteed. I won't be voting for him unless he does more than just the bare minimum.

Bare Minimum????? This mayor has done more than any mayor. The city hasn't looked this good in decades. Look at allof the development and restored properties -- heck even the Pomeroy building. There is new development in every part of the city not to mention that the police have done a great job as well. You need to get your ead out of the sand and smell the roses buddy. Look at the houses the city is buying and rehabbing them and selling them to families. You need to either open your eyes or stop lying. Easton is on the move and everywhere you go people recognize that. You don't have to like the mayor but you can't say he is pretending to do his job. Even the streetsand parks are being fixed, the new trail in the West Ward is great, the waterfront, improvements at Heil Park and Pool. My family uses all of these.

Really Well I can show you at least 100 properties in easton that are abandoned and full of rats and bugs. I can show you businesses that have shut their doors and left vacant. Crime??? Yeah the mayor has done very little except react after the fact with a few minor drug busts. I just saw a drug deal last night which is common place. I live in the west ward moron and it is horrible the worst ever. Maybe you should take your own advice and take your head out of the sand. We'll see how the mayor does when its time for his reelection.

Calling someone a "moron" during public discourse says less about the person to whom it was directly and VOLUMES about the person hurling it.

Stay klassy.

would OF asked me? That's rich. "Klassy" was misspelled intentionally; however, I don't think the same can be said of your sentence.
