Kimiko Moon, the Easton woman who was shot on Christmas Eve at her townhome in the Highlands development, has died, according to Northampton County's District Attorney.
John Morganelli said he had been notified Tuesday morning that Moon, 43, had died. She was shot just before midnight on Christmas Eve at her home at 200 Vista Drive, and had lingered on life support at St. Luke's Hospital in Fountain Hill since then.
Morganelli said he had authorized Easton police to file homicide charges against John McGlinchey III, the man accused of shooting Moon. McGlinchey, 46, of Nockamixon Township, Bucks County, is also charged with attempted homicide in the shooting of Moon's 17-year-old nephew Marquis.
Marquis is expected to recover, his family has said, although it wasn't clear Tuesday whether he was still hospitalized.
Easton police Lt. Scott Casterline said the new charges will be filed after the Lehigh County Coroner conducts an autopsy on Moon. That autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.
"Basically, when we get a ruling on the manner of death, we'll adjust the charges," Casterline said.
According to police, McGlinchey was identified by Moon's brother, who gave police a business card with McGlinchey's name on it. He was arrested at his home on Christmas Day, and has since been held in Northampton County Prison.
No one answered at the door at the Moon home Tuesday afternoon.
