5 Things to Know Today, Jan. 7

Envision the Lehigh Valley comes to Easton, learn about cyber schools, and more...

Good morning everyone, and welcome to the first full week of 2013. There's a lot happening in the next few days.

1. Envision Lehigh Valley -- "a public outreach effort designed to engage the citizens of Northampton and Lehigh counties to create a truly sustainable Lehigh Valley" -- is coming to Easton this week. The group will hold two public meetings : tonight at 6 at St. John's Lutheran Church, and Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Greater Shiloh Church

2. If you want to know about Easton Area High School's new cyber school program, head to the high school library Tuesday evening, where the school district will be holding an orientation from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

3. 'West Side Story' goes on stage Tuesday and Wednesday at the State Theatre.

4. Easton City Council meets Wednesday at 6 p.m. at city hall.

5. Today is Jan. 7. On this day in 1789, America held its first presidential election. Also, the Harlem Globetrotters played their first game today in 1927. (And they weren't actually from Harlem.)
