5 Things to Know Today

City looks at vacant properties, Tombler's gets a big donation, and more...

Hello everyone...welcome to another week. Here's five things to know today.

1. This week, Easton's Vacant Property Review Committee will begin tackling those vacant properties we've written about to determine whether they're blighted. The meeting is at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

2. Someone donated $2,250 to Tomblers' Bakery recovery efforts, according to the Easton Farmers' Market Facebook page. This money matches what was already collected.

3. We're a week away from the start of school (sorry kids), and several of Easton's schools have orientation programs scheduled for this week. There's a complete list on the Easton Area School District website.

4. On his blog, Jon Geeting argues for putting Easton back into the 18th state senatorial district.

5. Today is Aug. 22. The Cadillac Motor Company is 109 today. Diana Nyad, the swimmer who recently attempted to swim from Cuba to Key West, is 62.
